It’s July and it’s exceptionally hot. These are the weeknotes.
My first task is to update our Harmonia settings so that I stop being repeatedly assigned to weeknotes. After I have written weeknotes.
On Wednesday Roger, Neal, Alice, Mateusz, Daniela, Gavin and I attended Sprint Alpha event to catch up with other exemplar project teams, GDS, permanent secretaries, digital leaders and other interested people. These events are great not only for us for comparing notes with other departments, but also learning from GDS how to articulate the bigger ambitions of what we’re all working on.
Jonathan and Fiona in the portfolio team are wrangling a massive and growing portfolio into something manageable for our small team, whilst communicating our abilities and goals to the larger department. It’s a big challenge, and a process going through many iterations; lots of post-its, blue-tac and Trello boards.
Clive and Mat from our front end team have been working on our own front end toolkit, inspired by GOV.UK’s, enabling us to extract out common front end patterns from our various projects. Also they have been working on LPA, specifically around accessibility.
Eddie’s design team has recently grown from just him to include Matthew and Kellie. The new starters have very quickly got their heads around Lasting Power of Attorney, Civil Claims and Prison Visit Bookings and are already contributing massively. Eddie has also been working with me to shepherd some other projects from around the department through the service standard approval process.
Gavin continues grow the prison visit booking project, as does Daniela with civil claims.
Recruitment continues to be a priority for the entire Senior Management Team, along with a few supporters. It’s going well!
Related: Lisa continues to run the entire delivery management team single handedly. I’m not sure how, but she’s doing amazingly.
There is plenty of other work going on too, but this is getting a bit long now, and I need to get back to it. Have a great weekend all.
